Experience

🔙 Past Experience

In the summer of 2020, I was a content analysis intern with the Berkeley Media Studies Group, a project of the Public Health Institute. I conducted qualitative research on public health topics, such as vaccine sentiment and soda taxes, for the American Heart Association and the American Association of Pediatrics.

Before beginning my PhD program in August 2019, I served as the lead delivery manager for a large team (think 1 government agency, 7 vendor partners, and 13 work streams) building the future of Cloud technology at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Prior to becoming the lead delivery manager for CMS Cloud modernization, I served as the lead delivery manager for the current iteration of HealthCare.gov: the federally-facilitated Marketplace through which 12+ million people access health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. In these roles, I supported brilliant engineers, designers, analysts, policy experts, business owners, and vendor partners to help improve government digital services.

Before moving into civic technology, I enjoyed a career in the private-sector insurance industry at the nation’s second-largest auto insurer. During my time there, I completed a competitive executive leadership program, served as a senior business analyst on the company’s largest projects, and rounded out my experience as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt leading multiple process reviews for a portfolio of insurance products. For 2 years prior to working in the insurance industry, I worked as a business developer at minority and woman-owned small business.
